BSA Scout Troops from around North Carolina's Uwharrie Region will begin converging on the Town of Badin the evening of Friday, October 18 in preparation for a litany of weekend events and activities. The rest of the fun begins Saturday, shortly after 10 a.m. demo set-up. A veritable tentropolis on the Village Green in downtown Badin will house scouts from five different troops ever busy with skills demonstrations including the stalwart Pinewood Derby which will be hosted Saturday in the Badin Conference Center at 29 Falls Road. Competitors be prepared, Pinewood Derby check-in is 11 a.m. and the first heat is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Later, at 1 p.m. a treat for the ages, a Pinewood Derby Legacy Race for current and former scouts will pit dutiful derby cars of old against today's best and brightest.
